when people ask me what I'm going to do with my life, I'll have an answer!
I turned 18 on March 1st (yay!!) and thought, hey, maybe since I'm like a legal adult I should know what I'm gonna do with my life. I've thought about doing a LOT of things before, but none of them have really stuck. Of course my art and writing have, but I'm not at the point in my life where I can support myself with it, and honestly, I've done my research on freelancers, not to mention knowing a few. Making a living off of your art continues to get harder, and I'm just not willing to make the compromises freelance work demands.
Anyway. I waffled for a few weeks on whether I should look into being a paramedic. This is something I've considered before, and just never really done anything about it. Then a sermon at church whacked me upside the head, and I left church that evening having made my choice. So over the last few weeks I've done my research, and I'm going to be starting EMT-B (emergency medical technician basic level) classes in the fall
It's exciting and also scary, but it's so nice to be able to tell people with confidence that, yes I do in fact know what I'm gonna do with my life thank you very much.
And to put the cherry on top, I was called about an application I had submitted, had an interview today, and walked out of there with a job! WHICH I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT. It's in a garden center, sp it will literally have me outside ALL. SUMMER. I'm going to have an awesome tan and also an awesome time. It's a great position at a great company.
Writing has also been going well for me. I've written over seven thousand words this month, and the draft I'm working on is currently at 15K words. It's an adult magical-realism kind of story, with monsters and immortals and grumpy war veterans. I've been working on this story off and on for threeeeee years, almost, so it's encouraging to see myself headed in the right direction with it.
And LAST THING, I have a lot of other secret behind the scenes art stuff going on that I CAN'T. SHARE. All I can really say is that I'm making book covers. It's so hard not to share and brag XD
I've got a lot of opportunities in front of me right now, a lot to be thankful for, and I'm excited to see where I'm gonna end up. A lot is changing, and by the end of 2016, I think I'm going to be a very different person. We shall see.
Thank you all for sticking with me, and with my art. I promise not to slack on uploading stuff!
